Hub Dafoe passed away on April 23. 1998. He had been in poor health for a long time. Hub and his wife Grace were very active in the East Bay Mineral Society during the 1940's through the 1970's. They collected fine minerals and lapidary. Hub did very good lapidary work and was very helpful to the members. They also loved to go field tripping.
Hub was never President of EBMS but he was very involved in the organization. He and Grace were always supportive in Society projects.
Hub was President of the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies in 1952 when the Convention was held at Angels Camp. CA.
Hub and Grace were active in the Snow Museum in Oakland and with the transformation from the Snow Museum to the Oakland Museum Natural History section. Hub served as its first Curator during this time.
The East Bay Mineral Society remembers the many contributions of Hub through the years. '
